About Jon

Jon Gilutin has worked in many different areas of the music industry for many years now. As a teen, he started playing shows in the NY area with many top artists. Continuing his education brought him to the prestigious University of Miami music program where he was able to study and play alongside many influential teachers and players.

With graduation complete, Jon moved out to Los Angeles where he's been living since then and traveling the world with many of the most iconic artists of the past 4 decades. He has been moving through the areas of session player, songwriting, film & television composing, record production and then on to engineering, mixing and mastering. Like many of his colleagues, he's been constantly picking up new skills along the way that are necessary to evolve and grow in the new music business paradigm.

Jon has released 2 full studio albums. 2009’s "When the Heart Speaks" and 2011’s "One with Everything." In 2020 ( in lockdown), he released a duo project with his friend David Levita called “Arroyo”. This project featured Jon Flaugher on upright and drummers Jake Reed, Leo Costa, Shannon Forrest and Jimmy Branly along with renown fiddler Gabe Witcher and legendary percussionist Lenny Castro. His 2023 single “ Happy Days” charted widely on domestic and global radio stations and has been in steady rotation on Sirius XM station Watercolors. His newest single released in March of 2024, “Glad” is currently rising up the charts and picking up new adds weekly.

As a songwriter, he has won a Grammy as the co-writer of "New Attitude" on the multi platinum Beverly Hills Cop soundtrack and has had many other cuts by artists both here and abroad.

As a film composer, Jon wrote the original score for Patricia Arquette and Reese Witherspoon's Lifetime feature "Wildflower" directed by Diane Keaton as well as NBC's "The Secret Sins of the Father" directed by Beau Bridges along with collaborator Kenny Edwards. Jon has also scored a short film called Denial directed by Joel Kelly and starring new Superman actor Brandon Routh and Dexter and True Blood star Courtney Ford. Along with collaborator David Rice, he composed the theme song to the ABC hit show "Hope and Faith" and has also composed, arranged and produced music for Good Morning America and Entertainment Tonight as well as the USA network show Happy Hour” with Dweezil and Ahmet Zappa co-written with long time friend Lee Sklar . More recently, Jon has worked on hit films A Star is Born, The Color Purple, Coco and the new Mary Poppins film..

As a producer, his projects include two CD releases by Stephen Bishop. the 2019 CD "We'll Talk about it Later in the Car" and the 2016  " Blueprint." Two projects for Japanese artist Takuro (from Glay) as well as Arnold McCuller's "Sabor" CD, Julia Fordham (featuring Michael McDonald), folk rock artist Michael Herndon, latin artists Vanaz as well as projects released by contemporary jazz artists Gary Meek, Randy Jacobs and Michael Cates as well as contemporary chant artists Steve Ross, Ryan Brewer, Brett Larkin and a brand new project from old friend and teacher Guru Singh.
